About the event
Join us after the film for a special Q & A with Dr. Jonathan “JEB” Bowen, Dave Kuhn, and members of the project’s production team.
About the film:
In a race against time in the summer of 1986, a team of young archaeologists raced to excavate an ancient site before bulldozers buried it forever. The discoveries made that summer revealed that the location, the former home of the Scioto County Infirmary Farm, was likely the oldest site in Ohio with evidence of year-round human habitation. This oral history project documents the process and findings of the excavation as shared by Dr. JEB Bowen, a state of Ohio archaeologist, and Dave Kuhn, the avocational archaeologist who led the project. Images from the original excavation team and historic articles relating to the dig round out the film. We are thrilled to share this Southern Ohio Museum original feature, produced in partnership with the Shawnee State University Center for Public History.
